The Year of the Beach House

This last summer my family and I moved to the
New Orleans, LA metro area.
Our goal was to find a home with about an acre of land,
for my kids to play in, and to have some space.

We found all that, plus more.

What we (or I) didn't expect to find was a home
that checked off items I didn't know I wanted
on my house shopping list.

As a result, I absolutely love where we live.
And....I've become somewhat of a handywoman.
I am the main caretaker of our property and home
as my husband now works and commutes more than previously.

If you had asked me a year ago if I would be ok with
fixing up a home, doing DIY projects around the place,
and even talking my hubby into planting a vegetable garden,
I most assuredly would have laughed out loud.

Well, we have now been living here for 9 months
and I do all those things and more, willingly!
In fact, I want to. I look forward to it.
I actively look for new projects to do and take on.

I even compost now!

So, this blog (although a few months late)
is going to be a recorder of sorts.
Documenting my efforts to be an attempted caretaker of my
new found home and property.

They may not be pretty impressive blogs, but I have been enjoying myself.
And dare I say, thank goodness for Youtube!

So there will be some backpedaling,
as I post some projects I've done this past year.
But I will also more consistently start to document any new projects
and ongoing ones as well.

Here's to putting myself and efforts out there.
Because, I guess, pictures or it didn't happen?
